Leslie Creeden Memorial Scholarship
The Leslie Creeden Memorial Scholarship was established to honour the memory and legacy of Leslie Creeden, founder and former president of the Lindsay Wildcats Basketball Association. Leslie was a passionate leader who played a vital role in growing youth basketball in the Kawartha Lakes. She was widely respected for her dedication, high standards, and unwavering commitment to both team development and community building.
This scholarship recognizes graduating high school student-athletes who demonstrate the same core values that Leslie exemplified throughout her life.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be a graduating high school student (male or female) who graduated in the 2024–2025 school year or later
Have played a minimum of one season with the Lindsay Wildcats Basketball Association (house league/rep)
Have participated in basketball outside of the organization (school, club, or community level)
Enrolled in a post-secondary education program in the upcoming school year (college, university, or trade program)
Demonstrate strong character, leadership, and community involvement
Selection Criteria
Successful applicants will embody the following values:
Determination – Demonstrates perseverance and a strong work ethic, consistently pushing through challenges without giving up
Resilience – Shows the ability to recover from setbacks and uses adversity as motivation for growth
Discipline – Maintains focus, commitment, and respect for team structure, coaches, and responsibilities both on and off the court
Team Culture – Actively contributes to a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment
Grit – Displays toughness, effort, and passion in training and competition
Leadership Through Expectations – Leads by example, holding themselves and others to high standards of performance, accountability, and conduct
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following:
Completed Application Form (add link here)
Personal Essay (500 words)
Describe how you demonstrate the values of determination, resilience, discipline, team culture, grit, and leadership
Include specific examples from your basketball experience and personal life
Letter of Recommendation
From a coach, teacher, or community leader who can speak to your character and leadership
Proof of Post-Secondary Acceptance (if available at time of application, if not then offer of admission will be accepted)

Award Details
Number of Awards: Two (1 male, 1 female)
Scholarship Value: $1000 x 2
Disbursement: Scholarship funds will be awarded once the recipient’s post-secondary school year has begun and proof of enrollment has been provided
Presentation: The award will be presented annually at the Lindsay Wildcats Banquet
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. One male and one female recipient will be selected annually based on how strongly they reflect Leslie Creeden’s values, their impact on their team and community, and their commitment to personal growth.
Recipients of the award will be contacted by May 29, 2026. The scholarships will be announced at our Banquet on June 5, 2026 (St Thomas Aquinas CSS, Lindsay from 7-9 pm).
