Lindsay Wildcats Receive Generous Support from Lindsay Optimist Club
The Lindsay Wildcats Basketball Association is incredibly grateful to announce a generous $3,475 donation from the Lindsay Optimist Club; a contribution that will have a direct and meaningful impact on youth basketball in our community. This funding comes at an important time as we continue to grow our programs and ensure that basketball remains accessible to athletes and families across Kawartha Lakes.
💜 Supporting Access to Rep Basketball
The donation will be used exclusively to help offset the costs associated with rep basketball for Wildcats athletes this season.
As our President, Danielle McNelly, shared:
“Generous support like this is vital to our organization. It helps keep our costs low. We want sport to be obtainable. An amazing donation like this allows us to offer basketball for all.”
Rep basketball provides young athletes with opportunities to develop advanced skills, build confidence, and compete at a higher level, but it can also come with added costs. Support like this ensures more athletes have the chance to participate, regardless of financial barriers.
🤝 A Shared Commitment to Youth
The Wildcats were honoured to be selected for funding after submitting an application in December. The Lindsay Optimist Club noted that our focus on sportsmanship, leadership, discipline, and character closely aligns with their mission.
When presenting the cheque, members of the Optimist Club shared their appreciation for the work being done within our program, something that means a great deal to our entire organization.
🌟 “Friends of Youth” in Action
The Lindsay Optimist Club has been a cornerstone of community support for over 55 years, living out their motto, “Friends of Youth.”
Each year, the club reinvests proceeds from their youth soccer program back into the community, contributing more than $20,000 annually to organizations that prioritize youth development. Their support extends to a wide range of initiatives, including:
Local sports programs
Arts and culture organizations
Youth bursaries for graduating students
Their continued investment helps strengthen opportunities for young people throughout Kawartha Lakes.
